Chef Danielle Fanter of The Windcrest on Van Dorn in Lincoln, Nebraska combines her love for the elderly with her passion for preparing high-quality meals to set our community apart from the rest.
Danielle began her foodservice career as a server. During that time, her spark grew and she realized her deep love for food. Danielle silently observed the production staff at her job and took in all she could. Danielle was eager to jump in and assist the chefs in prep cooking whenever she could. Recognizing her talent, she was promoted to prep cook after only being a server for six months. Working side by side with the chefs, Danielle was taught new techniques and immediately picked up and perfected them.
Danielle’s desire to prove herself led her to enroll in the DM&A Healthcare Culinary Academy, a one-year training course to become a Certified Healthcare Chef. Danielle graduated with a 4.0 grade-point average and earned her certification in 2009. She continued to grow in her previous company as the Associate Chef before coming to The Windcrest on Van Dorn.
Danielle received national recognition as one of the top “30 Under 30” chefs in the nation by FoodService Director magazine. She was recognized from over 1,000 nominees.
Danielle has seamlessly transitioned our restaurant-style dining in the community to set it apart from many of the Assisted Living communities in Lincoln. Meals are always remembered when eating at The Windcrest on Van Dorn.
To say we are blessed to have Danielle as our chef is an understatement. Through Danielle’s leadership and constant drive, our community serves a top-quality meal, day in and day out.
